The flying skills of many who fly drones as a hobby are outstanding and they will demonstrate these skills on the “drone dome” set up on the sports area adjacent to the gymnasium.
Viewers will be separated from the flyers by a 2 m high wire security barrier and the “drome” itself will be a further 30 metres away. Drones flown in the display must not exceed 2 kg in weight and drone flying will be undertaken according to the protocols followed by model aero clubs in Australia.

- All drones must be approved suitable for flight prior to booking. Homemade/experimental drones are not encouraged.
- Flying displays must be pre-booked with the DroneDome Controller, or assistant who will allot a fifteen-minute time slot, multiple nonconsecutive time slots may be booked by a single operator, providing they are available.
- All non commercial operators must agree prior to flying their drones to be registered as a Rotary “Volunteer for the day”.
- Drones must not exceed 2 kg in weight.
- Operators must operate their UAV within the specified Drome to which they are allotted. They must not operate their UAV inside the taped area.
- Flights must not exceed an altitude of 61 metres (200 feet).
- There is no flying permitted closer than 30 metres to cars, buildings or the public.
- No high-speed flying toward the public
